Unlike the three and four-cylinder flagship Roadster motorcycles, which include BMW Motorrad’s own M 1000 R, the R 1250 R Roadster is equipped with a twin-cylinder boxer engine to provide a calm and power-packed performance.
The 2023 R 1250 R maintained the tradition of a twin-cylinder boxer engine, which began with the release of the 494cc R 32, which was released in 1923. The 2023 BMW R 1250 R is designed to be more versatile with balanced rideability even while you ride through unusual terrain.

Unlike the high-revving liter-class engines, which focus primarily on maximum power and torque output at peak Revolutions Per Minute (RPMs), the BMW R 1250 R’s 1254cc, air/liquid-cooled, two-cylinder boxer engine feels more useable with its widespread torque across the RPM range.
Along with a six-speed gearbox, the boxer twin-cylinder engine produces 136 hp and 105 lb.-ft of maximum torque.
The BMW R 1250 R engine is equipped with ShiftCam technology, which enhances rideability, lowers emission levels, and reduces fuel consumption.
