BMW Motorrad has released the BMW M 1000 RR 50 Years M to mark the 50th anniversary of BMW M GmbH. The anniversary edition M 1000 is distinct from the usual M 1000 with performance-tuned M motorcycle parts and color.
Featuring anniversary edition specials in design and finishing in the form of the unique Sao Paulo yellow finish and a 50th anniversary BMW M emblem, the 50 Years BMW M is billed to appear in a unique aesthetic design. Performance delivery is further enhanced with the extensive M milled parts package and the exclusive M carbon package in addition to the standard M edition competition package. The two additional competition packages are rendered in a lighter swingarm in silver anodized aluminum.
The design and performance package together ensures the new anniversary model M revels in the M philosophy and competition spirit together delivered by over a century of experience in motorcycle construction by BMW Motorrad and half a century of competition experienced by the BMW M sport motorcycles.
BMW Motorrad GmbH established the BMW M in 1972 as BMW Motorsport GmbH. The establishment of the BMW Motorsport was aimed at uniting all BMW Motorsport activities under one umbrella body to oversee their activities.
Since the debut of the BMW 3.0 CSL in the 1973 season, BMW M sports motorcycles have gone on to deliver premium competition performances across the different motorsports divisions, winning in several categories.
In 1993, the name changed from BMW Motorsport to BMW M, but its trademark designs and winning philosophy remained the same. Towards the end of 2018, BMW Motorrad successfully introduced the BMW M range strategy for motorcycles to offer M special equipment and M performance to BMW’s two-wheeler sports motorcycles.
