3 Tips to Prepare Your Bike for Those Summer Motorcycle Rides

2020 BMW R nineT

The Coronavirus pandemic has most of us looking forward to the summer when hopefully restrictions will be lifted and we will be able to enjoy our BMW motorcycles again. You can take the time you have right now at home to work on your motorcycles to have it ready for the summer. The following easy tips to prep your motorcycle will help you do just that. Of course, for those of you who have always wanted a motorcycle, this is the best time to get yourself one. You can find a new bike in Riverside, CA at BMW Motorcycles of Riverside.

Check the fuel system and engine fluids first

You’ve probably not had a lot of opportunities to take your bike out lately. You want to make sure that the fuel system and engine are in top shape before you start it up again. Start by draining the fuel in the tank first. This will ensure that any stale gas is flushed out of the system so it won’t cause any problem. Next, check the engine oil and drain it out since the oil is likely to contain acid which negatively impacts the ride.

Test the battery

Without use, the battery dies down. Hopefully, you’ve taken time out during this break from riding to keep the battery of your ride charged by starting it once in a while. If you didn’t, you will likely have to recharge the battery before you can take the motorcycle out. The motorcycle is not likely to start without a recharge.

Evaluate the brakes and tires

Before you go for a ride, check both the brakes and tires. Ensure that the brake fluid is full and not a dark golden color, meaning it has to be replaced. Inspect the brake pad to see how much of it is left and whether you need to replace it or not. As far as tires go, you want to fill it with air and ensure that the treads on it aren’t worn out. In doing this, you will have your motorbike ready for the summer. Stop by BMW Motorcycles of Riverside to check out new BMW Motorcycles near Ontario and San Bernardino, CA
